Animal Health
The agricultural market requires potable drinking water for both poultry and livestock. The applications include disinfection of the well water and possible treatment of any excessive iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide. In addition, water lines are often used to carry antibiotics, supplements, and related solutions. Acidification of drinking water is often performed using a chemical feed pump.
Stenner peristaltic metering pumps are used to inject solutions such as sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) for well water disinfection and for line flushing to eliminate biofilm in drinker lines. Hydrogen peroxide is often injected for its beneficial health effects and quick oxidation of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide. Additional applications include injection of antibiotics, vaccines, supplements, and related solutions to maintain the health of the flock or herd. The Stenner pump is usually activated via a flow switch or pressure switch at the well pump and via a water meter in conjunction with a proportional interface control (Stenner PCM) at the individual house.
Application sites include poultry and livestock farms.
